Abstract

565,569. Earth-moving apparatus. DEHN, F. B. (Euclid Road Machinery Co.). Dec. 11, 1942, No. 17661. [Class 68 (i)] Earth-moving apparatus comprises a frame 10 each side of which is preferably a box-beam formed of two channels arranged flange to flange, a draw bar 11 extending forwardly for connection to a tractor &c. 12, and preferably a rear bumper 23 through which a second vehicle may push the apparatus ; the frame is supported only on wheels 15, and two beams 18 are pivoted thereto at 22 and carry the scraper blade 16 which is backed by a box-beam 17 and preferably extends the full width of the frame. An endless belt conveyer 24 has its frame rigidly mounted on the beams 18 by hollow beams 30, 31, and a triangular block 32. A mouldboard 33 transfers the spoil from the scraper blade to the conveyer belt and comprises triangular plates 33a, 33b, 33c, arranged to deliver the spoil at 34. The conveyer is driven by an engine 37 acting through bevel gearing 39 and a telescoping shaft 40. The beams 18, conveyer, scraper blade and mouldboard are raised or lowered by a hydraulic jack 47 acting through cranks 41, adjustable links 43 and side plates 44. The control means are preferably operated from the tractor.
