Abstract

565,161. Moulding spectacle frames. POLACSEK, N. June 8, 1943, No. 9214. [Class 87 (ii)] A spectacle frame front is made by cutting elongated slots c<1>, c<2> in a heated blank b<2> of thermoplastic material, threading the slots over tapered projections i<1> extending upwardly from a mould base d, forcing the blank downwardly over the projections, to stretch the slots, and into a moulding recess n, placing an upper mould platen on the blank, removing the projections from lower mould members i<2> and placing the mould in a hydraulic press. Wire, wire nets or other reinforcements or ornaments, or side-piece hinges may be inserted into the frame and moulded therewith. The blank may be made of superposed thin sheets of the same or different colours, or of small pieces of material pressed together. Fig. 1 shows how two blanks are made from a blank by cutting along a line a.
