Abstract
565,027. Tubes for heat exchangers. JENKINSON, Ltd., W. G., and JENKINSON, H. A. March 3, 1943; No. 3487. [Class 64 (iii)] A lead or lead-alloy pipe or tube 1 is provided on its external and/or internal surface with interrupted projections 2, 2a or depressions 3, 3a, separated by plain portions la, 1b of the tube surface, whereby a considerably greater surface area for heat exchange is obtained than with a tube of the same diameter having plain cylindrical surfaces. The projections or depressions are arranged circumferentially or longitudinally of the tube, and one row may be staggered with respect to the next ; moreover, the internal projections &c. may be radially in line, or staggered, with those on the external surface. The Provisional Specification describes also tubes with continuous longitudinal or circumferential projections or depressions.
