[Class 136 (iii)] In a cycle saddle having the rear end supported by fixed coiled compression springs e, one or more subsidiary springs f are interposed between the cantlebar b of the seat frame and the fixed lower cantlebar c in such a manner that one of the cantlebars is normally out of contact with one end of the subsidiary spring or springs and is only brought into contact therewith when the weight of the rider is sufficient to effect this. The invention is applicable particularly to saddles of the kindin which the seat or cover is mounted on or forms part of a frame which is pivotally or resiliently mounted, adjacent the peak bf the saddle, on the fixed underframe, and in which may be incorporated a series of substantially horizontally disposed coiled tension springs constituting a resilient support for the seat or the well of the seat. As shown, a single subsidiary spring f is secured at its lower end by a stud &c. c<1> to the cantlebar c, while its upper end is loosely wound around a peg g on the cantlebar b so as to be slidable thereon. In modifications, (1) the upper or lower end of the spring f may be freely mounted respectively below or above, and clear of, the cantlebar b or c ; (2) the peg g may be replaced by a bolt and nut device, the nut or nuts being adjustable to afford the desired contact with the spring f ; (3) a pair of subsidiary springs of lesser diameter may be incorporated in the springs e ; and (4) the subsidiary spring may be a bowed blade spring.
