Abstract
564,295. Purifying sand. MINERALS SEPARATION, Ltd. July 15, 1943, No. 11548. Convention date, July 17,1942. [Class 82 (ii)] [Also in Group III] Sand, particularly ferruginous sand, for use in the manufacture of glass, is purified by froth flotation, the agents used being sulphuric acid, a water insoluble and unsaponifiable oil, and an aliphatic amine whose functioning hydrocarbon group contains 7-19 carbon atoms, ferruginous impurities being removed in the froth. The material may be deslimed before the treatment. The sand so purified may be washed in acid for the removal of the remaining iron.
