Abstract
564,062. Dampers. DUNN, A. Jan. 25, 1943, No. 1206. [Class 126] A damper 3 for controlling the draught in open fireplaces fitted to a brick-built-chimney is pivotally supported.on a metal frame consisting of side members 1 of angle section having V-shape recesses 6 dovetailed at the bottom 7 to engage with recessed portions 8 of the damper. The members 1 are connected by tie rods 2 and the horizontal flanges of the members 1 are built into the brickwork joints as shown in Fig. 2. To prevent displacement of the damper one recess 6 may be provided with a bridge 10, as shown in Fig. 6, to co-operate with a projection 9, Fig. 5, on one end of the damper. The damper is operated by a link 5 hinged to a rod 4 secured to the damper. The damper may be applied to open fireplaces having a boiler at the back behind which is a damper-controlled flue.
