Abstract

563,817. Cathode-ray tubes. COSSOR, Ltd., A. C., and WOODBRIDGE, L. A. Feb. 26, 1943, No. 3195. [Class 39 (i)] A cathode-ray tube has a conductive surface placed close against the outside surface of the envelope at the screen or target end. The electron beam may be given a substantially circular component of motion by electrostatic fields produced by means including this surface acting in co-operation with either the final anode of the tube or another conductive coating on the envelope. The coating may consist of sheet metal or colloidal graphite may be painted on. If a lead sulphide coating is used and contact is made therewith by a, nickel copper alloy spring, a spot of colloidal graphite in sodium silicate binder may be painted on the coating where the spring is to bear on it. This improves the contact made.
