Abstract

563,644. Harvesters. MARSHALL, SONS & CO. (SUCCESSORS), Ltd., and BURGESS, E. Feb. 19, 1943, No. 2766. [Class 6 (iii)] A combined harvesting and threshing machine is provided with two independent internal combustion engines 1, 7, each controlled through a clutch, one engine being used solely for propelling the machine and the other for driving the mechanism for the threshing, cutting, cleaning and feeding. The two engines are mounted in close proximity on the frame of the machine and the clutches are arranged to be operated independently as desired by the power driving the machine. In the machine shown, the engine 1 drives the road wheels 2, while the engine 7 serves to drive the threshing drum 11 and a pulley 13 on the shoe eccentric shaft. Other drives are taken from these shafts so that all the mechanism for the threshing, cutting, cleaning and feeding is driven by the engine 7.
