563,418. Accumulators. BRITANNIA BATTERIES, Ltd., BLOMFIELD, R. M., and BURT, F. E. April 27, 1943, No. 6633. [Class 53] A vent plug, for an accumulator that can be used in an inverted position, comprises two spaced diaphragms c, e of semi. porous material, with a quantity of inert liquid k of high specific gravity such as mercury, between them and a perforated baffle plate g shielding the lower open end of a vent tube i depending from the vent plug or from a cap fitted to the plug. When the accumulator is inverted, the mercury covers the diaphragm e and prevents escape of the electrolyte.
