Abstract

563,183. Knee protectors. EVANS, S. H. Dec. 12, 1942, No. 17689. [Class 81 (ii)] A knee protector comprises a non-flexible concave member 1 of metal, shaped to fit substantially the contour of the flexed knee of the wearer, provided on its inner surface with. a resilient pad 2, e.g. of felt or rubber, and on its exterior surface with a pad 4 of frictional material, e.g. rubber or leather. The protector is held in position by two members 3, e.g. of rubber, riveted to the member 1, which grip by reason of their springiness. In a modification, the fixed pad 4 is replaced by a member comprising a metal &c. disc 5 to which is riveted a pad 7 of rubber &c. The disc 5 is rotatably held to the member 1 by a screw or pin 8 furnished with lock-nuts 9. In this modification, the inner pad 2 may be made thicker at its side edges and the protector is held in position by straps passing through apertures 1a. The disc 5 and the concave member 1 have a common centre of curvature.
