Abstract
562,891. Alloys. CLIMAX MOLYBDENUM CO. Jan. 12, 1943, No. 577. Convention date, July 8, 1941. [Class 82 (i)] A process for the production of tungstencontaining ferrous alloys comprises adding tungsten monoxide to molten or melting ferrous metal, which reduces the oxide and dissolves the resulting tungsten. The monoxide may be in the form of a crude partly-reduced tungsten compound, or of a suboxide, corresponding generally to the formula WO, and may be added, in the form of pellets or packages, to the furnace charge, or to the ladle just before casting. Thereafter other additions, such as of manganese and/or silicon, may be made.
