562,404. Sewing - machines. FAIRWEATHER, W. C. (Singer Manufacturing Co.). Dec. 27, 1942, No. 18381. [Class 112]. A two-needle sewing-machine has rotary hooks 40 carried by vertical shafts 41 mounted in brackets 42 adjustably Secured beneath the workplate. The hooks are furnished with mechanical-openers comprising vertical shafts 76, 88 carrying at their upper ends arms 78, 90 which engage projecting ears 82, 92 on the spool-case holders. The hooks make two revolutions for each stitch and the mechanical-openers are actuated during the stitch-forming revolution ' only by means operated from an eccentric 58 on the bed shaft 25. This means comprises a lever-arm 64, a link 65, a slidebar 68 adjustable tappets 73, 74 and levers 75, 87 at the lower ends of shafts 76, 88. In a modification, the slidebar 68 is replaced by a rock-shaft carrying adjustable levers linked to arms on the shafts 76, 88.
