337,661. Fairweather, W., (Singer, Manufacturing Co.). Dec. 16, 1929. Chain-stitching.-In a cylinderbed chain-stitching machine the loopers are carried on a shaft extending the length of the bed and operated from the main shaft. The loopers 22, co-operating with the needles 18, are carried by the member 23 fixed to the rocking and sliding looper shaft 24 journaled in the bed 4 below the main shaft 8. The sliding motion of the shaft 24, which imparts the loop seizing and shedding movements to the loopers, is derived from the arm 25 of the needle-bar oscillating shaft 14, by links 27, 29, 30, so as to be synchronized with the needle. The needleavoiding movements are produced by rocking the shaft by the main shaft eccentric 34 and arm 36.
