Abstract

562,021. Firelighters. SZASZ, G. V. Jan. 13, 1943, No. 637. [Class 50] Cork waste is hot pressed to bind together the particles, and is then impregnated with combustible liquids. A pressure of between 700 and 800 lbs. per square inch and a temperature between 600‹ and 700‹ F. may be employed. The pressed cubes or shapes may be impregnated by dipping in the inflammable liquid after subjecting them to reduced atmospheric pressure. Suitable combustible liquids are waste oils, waste wax dissolved in naphthalene-rich oil, varnish foots, terebin foots, or paraffin oil mixed with waste petroleum products.
