Abstract

264,846. Heppner, R. Jan. 20, 1926, [Convention date]. Storing under pressure.-Solid absorbents used for the storage of acetylene &c. are treated with inorganic or organic salts which on heating volatilize or evolve gases, and thus prevent the spread of flame or explosion. Ammonium sulphate, oxalate, or carbonate may be used. Oils, fats, resins, paraffin or soaps may be added to bind the mass, to which pumice powder, coal dust, metallic oxides or natural earths may be added.
