Abstract

561,989. Woven laundry tabs. MEYER, H. Jan. 25, 1943, No. 1268. [Class 142 (iv)] [Also in Group XV] A tab for marking articles to be laundered contains or consists of thermoplastic material not softened at 100‹ C. but softened at a temperature well below the scorching point of textile material, to which it may be attached by heat, and pressure and which is easily affected by heat such as artificial silk and has on its face identification numerals, the tab being easily removable by tearing off without affecting the material to which it is attached. One example consists of a woven cotton material coated with a solution made up of co-polymer of vinyl acetate and vinyl chloride 19 parts, amyl tartrate 10 parts, tricresyl phosphate 5 parts and acetone 66 parts and printed with identification marks. Another example comprises a fabric of mixed yarns containing approximately 40 per cent cellulose acetate with plasticising agent such as diethyl or dimethyl phthalate incorporated therein and 60 per cent cotton fibres.
