Abstract

Hydraulic cement clinker is ground with the addition of 0.005 to 0.045 per cent of ethylene and/or propylene glycol to facilitate grinding and improve concrete made with the cement. Cement dispersing substances, e.g. waste sulphite liquor residue or naphthalene sulphonic acids; wetting agents, e.g. lauryl sodium sulphate; accelerators, e.g. calcium chloride; puzzuolanic materials &c. may also be incorporated in the mix. The glycols may be added to cement after grinding.ALSO:Hydraulic cement clinker is ground with the addition of 0.005 to 0.045 per cent of ethylene-, and/or propylene glycol to facilitate grinding and improve concrete made with the cement.
