560,690. Cleaning floors, walls, &c. SCHWARZ, E. June 25, 1942, No. 8754. [Class 138 (i)] [Also in Group III] A cleansing, dust-binding, impregnating and preserving composition for walls, floors, and surfaces of all kinds comprises an unstable emulsion containing major proportions of mineral oil and aqueous wax emulsion and minor proportions of turpentine, with or without aliphatic alcohols, sulphonated vegetable oils and disinfectants. In an example 40 parts of mineral oil with 7 parts of turpentine and 3 parts of isopropyl alcohol are added at 60 to 65‹ C. to 45 parts of an aqueous wax containing 15 per cent of a natural wax such as carnauba wax, and, while stirring, 5 parts sulphonated castor oil containing 1.5 per cent salicylic acid or sodium benzoate added. The compound is then allowed to cool. After application to the surface to be cleaned the emulsion and residues of dust and dirt are removed by means of sawdust, woodwool, cork dust or the like with or without an abradant such as pumicestone, powdered glass or powdered marble.
