Abstract
560,054. Obstructing keyholes. LOFQWIST, O. J. Sept. 15, 1942, No. 12994. [Class 44] A device for obstructing a keyhole 4 to prevent use of a key comprises a pair of overlapping blades inserted through the keyhole and then displaced laterally, the blades being so shaped at their ends that when so displaced said ends prevent removal of the device. The blades are held-in the displaced condition by a suitable fastening such as a padlock. As shown, blades 1, 2 are pivoted together scissors-fashion at 3, the device being passed through the keyhole and then opened as shown to prevent withdrawal, the blades being retained in the engaged position by a padlock 6 passed, through registering apertures on the widened ends 1b, 2b. As shown two sets of holes 5, 7 are provided to give finer adjustment. The ends 1a, 2a are preferably flared. In a modification the blades are connected by pins on one slidably engaged in inclined slots in the other so that lateral expansion of the device is effected by endlong movement of one blade with respect to the other. At one end the blades have oppositely disposed lugs which engage over the edges of the keyhole to prevent removal, the other end being widened and provided with padlockreceiving holes similar to those described above.
