Abstract
559,186. Overhead conductors for electric traction. GOUGH, P. M. Sept. 16, 1942, No. 13046. [Class 104 (iii)] The switches of overhead electric conductors E, E for trackless vehicles are operated by the wheel of the vehicle depressing a plate &c. m in the roadway, this movement closing the circuit of a solenoid K connected by a cord j to the switches. If the solenoid fails, the switches may be moved by a cord Q and handle q. A spring J returns them to normal position. Alternatively, the depression of the plate may operate through a hydraulic or mechanical means. A time-lag device may hold the switches in their changed position for a certain time before they are returned by spring J.
