[Class 102 (i)] In a pump for delivering measured quantities of lubricating oil or other liquid under pressure to a number of points, of the kind comprising a reciprocable plunger 11 with a port 16 which communicates by a passage 33 with the interior of the cylinder 10 and which registers in succession with a series of outlet ports 15 spaced apart lengthwise of the cylinder, each outlet port is closed before the next is opened and there is provided a chamber 24 communicating with, but forming no part of, the cylinder space swept by the plunger 11 and having a movable wall loaded by a spring 26 to increase the volume of the chamber. The outlet ports are all of the same axial length and are spaced apart by distances A, B. C, D proportional to the volumes to be delivered through them. As shown, the chamber 24 is a co-axial extension of the cylinder 10 and the movable wall is constituted by a piston 25. The plunger 11 meters the liquid and the piston 25 effects the delivery. The passage 33 and the inlet port 13 are fitted with non-return valves 18, 14. The piston 25 also serves as a relief valve by co-operating with a drain passage 23 formed in the chamber 24 and communicating with a sight tube. The delivery at the ports 15 may be adjusted by forming these ports as'helical slots the inclination of which increases progressively towards one end and by providing for relative rotation of the plunger 11 and the cylinder 10. Specifications 375,151 and 425,430 are referred to. According to the Provisional Specification the inlet port 13 and the valve 14 may be located in the side wall of the cylinder 10.
