Abstract

558,007. Abrasive tools. ALNCIN, Inc. April 10, 1942, No. 4763. Convention date June 17, 1941. Drawings to Specification. [Class 60] Abrasive tools are made by applying abrasive granules in a definite distribution to the surface of sheet metal of a nature that is softened at a temperature less than the fusing temperature, forming the sheet metal into a laminated assembly with the granules between adjacent surfaces and subjecting the structure to a temperature sufficient to cause the softened metal to enclose the granules under low pressure, the structure being subsequently tempered. A carbon steel or a copper base or copper aluminium alloy, e.g. 89 per cent. copper, 10 per cent. aluminium, 1 per cent. iron, may be used as the metal which may be in the form of a continuous coiled strip or of laminae in face to face relationship. The granules may be temporarily held in place by a coating of lauryl alcohol. Specification 542,975 is referred to.
