Abstract
556,704. Golf-ball teeing devices. MOZEL, J. Aug. 17, 1942, No. 11519. [Class 132 (ii)] In a device for automatically teeing golf balls, particularly for use in teaching and practising, the tee 19 is reciprocated vertically by a motor and spring operated lever 7 so as to pick up a ball delivered to a support 51 from a pivoted shoot 48. The motor 38 is energized through a switch 24 each time the tee is freed from the weight of a ball driven therefrom. To lower the tee, the motor, acting through speed reduction gearing, rotates a wheel carrying a roller 33 engaging the lever 7. The motor circuit is maintained until the cycle of movements is completed, by a switch mechanism 63 closed by a cam 64. The height of the tee is adjusted by raising or lowering a stop 43 by means of a knob 45. If there are no balls in the pivoted shoot 48, a spring 53 and a spring in a switch 52 raise the shoot and open a contact thereby preventing the closure of the motor circuit, the machine then becoming non-operative and a signal lamp being lit to indicate that more balls are required. A detent 70 rocked by mechanical connections with the lever 7 admits the balls singly to the support 51. The tee 19 is carried by a body member of rectangular crosssection reciprocating within a cylindrical housing 4, thereby reducing the risk of binding.
