Abstract

218,035. Horne, K. April 13, 1923. Golf - practising appliances.-A device for practising putting comprises a series of targets a pivoted on a rod b supported by uprights c. When a target is hit by a ball, it comes into contact with a rod f, which is provided with offset arms e pivoted to the rod b and is normally held in engagement with the uprights c by springs g. If the impact between the ball and the target is below a certain minimum strength, the target is not moved sufficiently for the ball to pass beneath it. If the impact is between certain minimum and maximum strengths, the ball passes beneath the target, and the rod f in returning to its normal position causes the target to rotate into an inverted position, Fig. 5. If impact is above the maximum strength the rod f is carried beyond its dead centre and an indicator i is displayed.
