Golf-practising appliances; golf clubs.- Appliances for practising the game of golf comprise means to indicate to the user the orientation of the club face or head about two co-ordinate axes at the moment of impact with the ball, real or supposed. In one form, the appliance consists of a golf club with a mirror 3 in the striking face, and the player deduces the nature of his stroke by observing in the mirror, at about the time of impact with a real or imaginary ball, a flash of light directed along the line ZO. In a modification, Fig. 2, two mirrors 6, 7 are provided on the upper surface of the club head and the player observes the flashes of light from two line-of-light lamps 8, 9. In a further modification, Fig. 3, one of the mirrors 10 has two inclined surfaces arranged to give a double reflection and one line-of-light lamp 11 only is used. The mirrors 6, 10 may have plane or cylindrical surfaces, and may be attached to either wooden or iron club heads by devices providing universal adjustment. When the mirrors are not in use and are removed a compensating weight is added to the club head. The line-oflight lamp may comprise a shield of opaque material fitted with a translucent slot. For practice out of doors, instead of a line-of-light lamp, a board 31, Fig. 11, with a rotatable slotted dial 32 inclined at about 45‹ to the ground is used, the slot being illuminated by the sky or by a lamp.
