556,494. Screw propellers. CONSTANT SPEED AIRSCREWS, Ltd., and MARSHALL, F. G. May 15, 1942, Nos. 6603/42 and 3218/43. [Class 114] [Also in Group XXII] Air-screw blades are made by applying metal sheets e, e.g. of stainless steel, to a skeleton former comprising a longitudinal member b extending through slots c in a number of elements a of aerofoil shape the pitch of the blade being determined by the angle of the slots or by shaping or twisting of the longitudinal member. The metal sheets may be secured to the elements a by welding or by countersunk screws arranged to stretch the sheets. Alternatively the sheets while held in position against .the former may be welded together along their edges in which case the former may subsequently be removed and the interior of the blade filled with a plastic composition.
