555,998. Saponaceous cleansing-compositions. BAIRD, W., and IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. March 13, 1942, No. 3315. [Class 91] Soap powders containing bleaching agents such as mixtures of common soap, sodium carbonate or bicarbonate, borax, sodium silicate, trisodium phosphate and salts of hydrogen peroxide-yielding per-acids such as sodium perborate or percarbonate are rendered stable by the addition of a small proportion of an oxime of an o-hydroxy aromatic aldehyde, for example the oxime of o-hydroxybenzaldehyde, 2-hydroxy-5- methylbenzardehyde, 2-hydroxy-5-methoxybenzaldehyde or 2- hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde. The quantity of oxime may be from 0.001 to 0.1 per cent., and the oxime may be added in conjunction with other compounds having stabilizing action such as disalicylalethylene diamine (see Specification 549,240) or certain magnesium salts (see German Specifications 347,693 and 425,598), or in admixture with a diluent such as sodium sulphate. In an example 40 parts of dry soap powder, 20 of sodium carbonate, 10 of sodium bicarbonate, 5 of borax and 1 of magnesium sulphate are thoroughly mixed and to 90 parts of the resulting mixture are added 10 parts of sodium percarbonate and 0.01 parts of the oxime of 2-hydroxy-5 methyl benzaldehyde.
