[Class 31 (i)] [Also in Groups XVI and XV] Manifolding stationery with a binding margin along one edge is fed through typewriters or writing devices by two sets of spaced positive means, one set diverging from the other during their movement so as to sever the binding margin from the stationery beyond the writing point. The positive driving means may engage opposite edges or may both engage one edge for use with different widths of stationery as described in Specification 555,817. In the latter case, perforations 30, 31 separated by a line 23 of weakness as described in Specification 555,822, [Group XV], are engaged by pins 38, 44 carried by the sleeve 37 mounted on the platen 35, pins 38 being formed on the sleeve and pins 44 on members 43 sliding in grooves in the platen. The pins 44 project through slots in the sleeve 37 and are moved transversly by tabs 47 which engage a cam groove 46 in a plate 45 secured to the platen bearing 34. The margins 28 may be secured together by staples 21 or adhesive binding and the stationery by staples 29. The transfer strips 22 may have tabs 27 secured by the staples 29 which are placed on the line 24 of severance of the forms as described in U.S.A. Specification 2,083,295. The transfer strips 22 may extend to the margin and be retained in place by the staples 21.
