Abstract

555,372. Prefabricated buildings. MURRAY, W. C. May 9, 1942, No. 6302. [Class 20 (iv)] A building constructed of pre-fabricated components comprises spaced columns a with grooves b, and spaced slabs c shaped at the ends to overlap the corners of the columns, with a shoulder e engaging the groove b. The slab is retained in position by a wedge key g bearing against a tapered projection h. The key may be formed with a slot for the insertion of a withdrawing tool. Where two sets of slabs meet at right angles, a right-angled cover piece j is provided, with securing keys m. A covering n of channel section, similarly secured, forms the side of a door or window frame. Partition walls q are similarly keyed to projections r of the adjacent slabs. The floor and roof supports may consist of horizontal beams t, Fig. 5, with horizontal anchoring members s embodied in the walls, to which they are secured by a shoulder v and key w in a similar manner. The ends of the members s are similarly secured to adjacent columns a. In a modification, Fig. 6 (not shown), the columns a are of cruciform section.
