Abstract

554,457. Reamers; counterboring bits &c. PRICE, F. P. May 8, 1942, No. 6205. [Class 83 (iii)] Reamers, counterboring and spotfacing tools &c. have interchangeable cutters and pilots arranged for easy assembly on the shank that is formed on its end with a driving dog F to engage a cross groove on the cutter B, and is bored to take the shank of the pilot C and provided with a cross slot G to receive a shearing pin E passing through a hole in the pilot shank and engaged by a counterbore in a nut D threaded on the shank. The pilot, when possible, is of larger diameter than its shank so that the nut D and pin E draw the parts rigidly against the end of the shank. if the pilot seizes in the hole the pin E shears and prevents damage to the tool. When the pilot must be the same diameter as its shank the cutter is secured thereto by a grub screw.
