Abstract

543,632. Drills and cutters. GETGOOD, R. F. Nov. 11, 1940, No. 16297. [Class 83 (iii)] Facing and counter-boring tools have the blades D<SP>1</SP> mounted in slots A<SP>3</SP> at such an angle as to provide the necessary rake. The blades are adjusted by end screws F and clamped by screws E<SP>1</SP>, E<SP>2</SP> ; a pilot B being clamped in the body at C. For facing, the bottoms of the slots may lie in planes parallel to the axis but for counter-boring the bottoms should converge as shown in Fig. 4, to avoid interference with the sides of the hole. One blade only, or more than two blades may be used.
