Abstract
553,279. Thermionic valves. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. (Naamlooze Vennootschap Philips' Gloeilampenfabrieken). Nov. 11, 1941, No. 14545. [Class 39 (i) Electrodes or their support wires are held firmly in bushings which are slightly resilient ; glass wool, quartz wool, slag wool, spun glass, glass gauze or powdered glass with a binder is used to form the bushing which may be bobbin shaped and forced into a plate for holding a number of electrodes. The hole through which the support wire is passed is of slightly smaller diameter than the wire. The bobbin may be attached to the wire and then forced into the hole in the plate. It may be simultaneously compressed and heated. In a modification the entire support plate is made of the glass wool &c. ; hot stamps are used to sinter a portion a shown shaded leaving the outside edge b and the bushings c resilient.
