Abstract

553,016. Snap fastenings. WARD, E. S. W. Nov. 12, 1942, No. 1579. [Class 44] A fastening device for securing perforated members together, and particularly described as for securing an adjustable shelf 7 between supporting flanges 5, comprises a strip of spring metal bent to provide a convex head 1 merging into a pair of parallel limbs 2 the free ends of which are bent back acutely to provide a pair of straight spring tongues 3 which can be pressed through registering apertures and snap into engagement as shown with the parts 5, 7 held between the convex head and the ends 4 of the tongues, the distance between the ends 4 and the head being less than the length of the tongues 3. Preferably this distance is such that the head must be slightly compressed to allow the tongues to clear the apertures so that the parts are tightly held.
