Abstract
594,033. Horticultural cloches. PALMER, E. E. June 22, 1945, No. 16010. [Class 20(i)] [Also in Group XXV] Glass securing means for a tent cloche comprises a socket member to engage and locate adjacent edges of two glass sheets so that they diverge, and resiliently extensible tie members secured to the socket member and having hooks engaging beneath the opposite free edges of the glass sheets. As shown the socket member is formed from sheet metal and has two diverging limbs 11 on which the upper margins of the glass sheets 10 rest, the portion 14 connecting the limbs being bent to overhang each limb to form channels 13 to receive the upper edges of the glass sheets, and also to form a handle. The lower ends of the limbs have flanges 12 having holes in which engage hooks 15 secured to one end of helical springs 16 provided at the other end with hooks 17 to engage the lower edges of the glass sheets. The hooks 15, 17 may be stamped from sheet metal with shanks having teeth on their edges to engage the inside of the springs in the manner of a screw-thread.
