[Classes 72 and 82 (i)] For controlling the sulphur content of metal melted in a cupola furnace while in intimate contact with solid fuel, melting is carried out in a furnace lined with basic material and limestone is added to the charge to take any desired proportion of the sulphur into the slag as calcium sulphide.
