Abstract
552,360. Spectacle frames. INTERNATIONAL POLAROID CORPORATION. April 23, 1942, No. 5489. Convention date, Nov. 12, 1941. [Class 97 (i)] A spectacle frame is formed from cardboard or other flexible sheet material, the temples being integral with the front of the frame and bent up from the sheet, and the front being formed with apertures over which separate window material may be secured. As shown, the temples each comprise two strips 22, 24 connected together and to lugs 16 on the front 12 by scored hinge lines. The strips 24 have ear pieces 26, and each of the temples, when in the plane of the sheet, extends along half of the upper edge of the fronts with the piece 26 adjoining an end of the front. The frame may be formed by stamping, the edges of the temples being partially separated by short cuts, or by scoring, from the edges of the front, to facilitate complete separation by hand. The front has a nose gap 15 and window apertures 14 over which polarizing material, coloured plastic material &c. may be secured by adhesive or by staples 34. The window material may be such that the spectacles may be used for analyzing projected stereoscopic images.
