Abstract
552,308. Cutting paper strips; electric insulating paper. HENLEY'S TELEGRAPH WORKS CO., Ltd., W. T., and DUNSHEATH, P. Aug. 23, 1941, No. 1331/43. Divided out of 552,989. [Classes 31 (i) and 96] Electric insulating paper strips with thinned irregular edges having projecting fibres as disclosed in the original Specification are formed, e.g. by passing a paper web 1 beneath perforating, indenting or scoring wheels &c. 3 coacting with a metal cylinder 4 and over similar scoring wheels 3a staggered in relation to the wheels 3, and coacting with a cylinder 4a, each scoring wheel cutting about half-way through the thickness of the paper which then passes between a pair of rolls 7, and is torn into strips 8 which are wound separately on rollers 9. In one modification a second set of rollers close to the rolls 7 facilitates tearing. In another modification, the edges of the strips are of crenellated form.
