Abstract

526,188. Coating paper. CHAMPION PAPER & FIBRE CO. March 9, 1939, No. 7707. Convention date, Aug. 27, 1938. Addition to 499,732. Drawings to Specification. [Classes 96 and 140] In coating paper as disclosed in the parent Specification, the excess liquid coating mixture is wiped off as the paper passes about a roll, by a doctor adjustable circumferentially about the roll, of material, such as natural or synthetic rubber, which yields by compression or flexure before it disturbs the " filter-cake " coating. The web may be coated at any stage in the papermaking machine, or subsequently thereto. Both sides of the paper may be coated.
