551,040. Knitting-machines. COTTON, Ltd., W., and MACDONALD, W. G. Dec. 16, 1941, No. 16263. [Class 74 (ii)] A straight - bar machine in which the cam-followers 16 22 engaging the needle-bar cam 17 and catch-bar cam 23 simultaneously travel up inclines o' these cams is provided with a balance weight 28 arrangec to assist rotation o: the cam shaft 18 while the followers are rising up the inclined parts of the cam. The balance weight may be bolted between the spokes of a gear wheel 25 mounted upon the cam shaft and engaging a gear wheel 26 on the hand-wheel shaft 27.
