Abstract
551,004. Roofs; walls &c. THOMPSON, R. M. Aug. 28, 1941, No. 11000. [Classes 20 (iv) and 87 (i)] Poured concrete 16 bonds with members 15 integrally incorporated with and projecting from precast concrete slabs 12. The slabs embody reinforcement 14, and further reinforcement 17 is placed in the layer 16 over intermediate supports 10. The bonding members 15 may be formed with or connected to the reinforcement 14. The bonds 15 may be grouted in holes in the partly set slabs by inverting over and pressing into the latter a board with tubular projections which remove cylinders of material. The holes are then widened at their bases before inserting the members 15. According to another method expanded metal 14 is cast in the slabs 12, Fig. 4. After setting, the reinforced slab is inverted and the originally unlying strips 151 raised and bent to the form 15, Strips 20 secured to the I- girders 10 may be connected to the reinforcement 17, or a length of steel rod bent in zig-zag fashion may be spot-welded to the top flange of the girder.
