[Class 97 (i)] In a photographic &c. objective comprising two compound divergent meniscus components located between two simple convergent components, and each consisting of a divergent element cemented to a convergent element, the average value of the AbbÚ V numbers of the glasses used for the four convergent elements lies between 46 and 50, the average value of the AbbÚ V numbers for the glasses of the divergent elements lies between 33 and 37, and the convergent elements of the meniscus components are of glass having a refractive index between 1.64. and 1.66. The glass for the simple convergent components may also have a refractive index between 1.64 and 1.66, and that for each divergent element may have a refractive index between 1.62 and 1.66. Complete data for one example are set out.
