Abstract

550,287. Printing-machines. GOSS PRINTING PRESS CO., Ltd. July 1, 1941, No. 8288. Convention date, Oct. 24, 1940. [Class 100 (ii)] Inking apparatus.-An ink duct blade is provided with means arranged between it and the duct roller for removing foreign matter from the blade. In one form, Figs. 1 and 2, a finger 30 arranged tangentially to the duct roller 14 is fixed to a block 32 slidably mounted on a guide rail 33 and secured to the lower run of an endless wire 45 passing over a pair of pullies 40, 43, the former of which is adapted to be driven by a reversible electric motor 50 through reducing and belt gear 51, 52 to reciprocate the finger between the roller 14 and edge of the blade 18. The motor is controlled by a pair of mercury switches 53, 54 connected together by a link 57 for simultaneous actuation when a block 47 secured'to the upper run of the wire 45 engages either of a pair of arms 48, 49 secured to the switches. In a modification the motor driving means is omitted, the finger being reciprocated when desired by a handle provided on one of the pullies 40, 43. In a further modification, the block carrying the finger is reciprocated by the engagement with 'a vertical slot therein of a pin carried by a chain driven continuously in one direction by an electric motor. Ink is taken from the duct roller 14 by a roller 12 having its surface provided with helical ribs 13.
