Abstract

308,515. Mansfeld, H. May 25, 1928. Cylinder machines.-A printing-machine of the kind in which a flat bed co-operates with a scraper or non-rotatable impression member is constructed with a reciprocating bed coacting with a scraper reciprocating in the opposite direction. The printing bed or lithographic stone 5 is mounted on a carrier 6 which is reciprocated in guides by means of cords 26, 27 passing over drums 25 on shafts 24 at each end of the frame, the other ends of the cords being attached to a sliding carriage 3 so as to cause this carriage to be reciprocated in a direction opposite to the bed. The drums 25 are driven from a motor 32 by means either of a direct band 33, or a crossed band 34 coacting with loose and fixed pulleys, and automatically operated beltshifting means causes reversal of the drive at the end of the printing stroke. The impression or surface member 10 is mounted adjustably in a slide 19 supported by the carriage 3, and a counter-pressure roller 4 is also mounted in the carriage 3. The slide 19 is, adjustable by screws operated by worm-gearing from a hand-wheel 23, and it can be raised to and from the bed 5 by means of a crank 11 on a shaft 13 fitted with an operating handle 14.
