Abstract

550,116. Electric battery lamps. DOUBLE, A. H., and HAUGHTON, J. B. Oct. 25, 1941, No. 13734. [Class 39 (ii)] A battery lamp for use with life jackets so as to reveal the location of a person needing help comprises a battery container 1 of insulating material enclosel by a screw-cap 2 of the same material on which is mounted a metal socket 8 engaging the centre contact 6 of the battery and adapted to receive a plug 10 connected to the lamp 18 mounted on a clip 19. The underside of the cap has secured to it a resilient contact in the form of a circular spider 12 which abuts against the zinc outer container of the battery. One of the securing screws 14 extends to the outside of the cap and receives the other lead to the lamp. The plug may be formed with a cavity containing a blob of mercury into which a contact connected with the lead 17 extends so that, with oscillation, an intermittent contact is obtained.
