549,973. Fibrous compositions. STILLITE PRODUCTS, Ltd., and GAUNT, E. E. June 11, 1941, No. 7419. [Class 70] In the preparation of heat-insulating materials by admixing mineral fibres, produced from natural rock, furnace slag, glass &c. with a bituminous emulsion and adding an agent to precipitate the bituminous material on the fibres, vegetable fibres such as jute are mixed with the mineral fibres, and bentonite or similar clay is added to the mixture of fibres and emulsion. The emulsion may be a caseinstabilized emulsion, and precipitation is effected with alum or sodium aluminate. The mixture is run into moulds, water is drained off, and the moulds heated in ovens or tunnel driers to remove the moisture content.
