Abstract

549,819. Combing machines. NASMITH, J. W. March 6, 1941, No. 3046. [Class 120 (i)] The top comb of a Nasmith machine is carried by an arm 1 whose movement is effected independently of the drive of the nipper, and the point of lift of the top comb is regulated by a second arm 6 operated independently of the arm 1, and is independent of the point of its previous fall. The arm 6 carries an adjustable incline 9 for lifting the top comb. In operation, a bowl 4 on the arm 1 rests upon the upper surface of the arm 6, and after the combs have penetrated the tufts the arm 6 is slightly withdrawn, so that in the return movement of the bowl 4 along the arm 6 raising of the comb by the incline 9 is delayed. The moment of penetration of the tuft by the comb is determined by adjustment of the inclined surface 9 along the arm 6. Specification 13758/01, [Class 120], is referred to.
