Abstract
549,077. Control of D.C. motors. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., COATES, H. J., JAKEMAN, R. G., and PRINCE, J. F. March 3, 1941, No. 2855. [Class 38 (iii)] A motor 6 driving a ring spinning frame has a field 4 energized from an A.C. supply through an induction regulator 10 and rectifier 11. On closure of switch 9 relay 28 lifts if the A.C. mains are energized, and if the regulator 10 is in its maximum field position (switch 31 closed) a contactor 15 closes. Upon increase of back E.M.F. of the armature resistance shorting contactor 17 closes. Closure of interlocks 32 by-pass switch 31 so that the regulator 10 can then be clutched to cam gear which thereby varies the excitation of the field 4 automatically as the cap is wound.
