[Class 52 (ii)] Relates to a folding bed wherein a foundation K, Fig. 1, of woven fabric is secured to side rails A which are supported on hinged legs B foldable longitudinally against the side rails, the rails and legs then being collapsible laterally as shown in Fig. 7. The invention consists in hinging the legs to the extremities of the side rails and locking them by locking means such as a bolt G, Fig. 3, and wing nut H. The legs are half checked as shown in Fig. 3 so that the weight of the bed comes directly on the legs and not on the hinges. The tops of the legs are slotted to clear the bolts G. Hinge connection between the side rails and legs may comprise a place C, secured to the leg by rivets D and hinged to the side rail by a pin E. The legs at each end are connected by cross members M the lower ends of which are detachable from the legs and may also be adjustable along vertical slots to tighten the foundation K. Stretcher bars may be provided between the side rails. A mattress L consisting of pockets filled with stuffing material may be permanently incorporated with the foundation K.
