Abstract
548,305. Transformers ; conductors. PARSONS & CO., Ltd., C. A., and RIPPON, E. C. March 31,1941, No. 4308. [Class 38 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXVI] A conductor 1 for transformer and like windings subject to surge voltages is provided with insulation 2 in the form of a number of layers so arranged that the thickness of the insulation increases towards one end. The insulation may be applied in the form of tape butt-lapped around the conductor or applied with a slight overlap, suitable materials including paper, silk, mica silk, mica folium, cambric, asbestos and glass silk. According to the Provisional Specification, the dielectric strength as distinct from the thickness of the insulation may be tapered.
