547,821. Lining hoses. ANGUS & CO., Ltd., G. CANNEY, D. E. F., and BALKIN, M. Feb. 10, 1941, Nos. 1780 and 16631. [Class 95] A method of internally lining a textile hose with rubber latex or equivalent sealing agent in liquid or plastic form, consists in introducing a quantity of sealing agent into the hose and traversing a spreader through the hose, and is characterized by the fact that each successive section of the hose through which the spreader passes is maintained open, during the passage of the spreader and by an agency other than the spreader itself, to a contour conforming with, but slightly larger than, that of the spreader. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 1, the hose 10 is opened by drawing therethrough a cylinder 12 containing a supply 13 of rubber latex, which latter is spread, so as to form a uniform lining 19, by the circular plate 14. In the devices of Figs. 2 and 3, the coating material is maintained under pressure by the springs 22 or 24. Alternatively the spreader may be driven along the hose by means of compressed air. Other specified lining materials are solutions of natural or synthetic rubber in organic solvents, or cellulose derivative compositions, e.g. cellulose acetate compositions. Specifications 9746/97, [Class 95], and 381,307 are referred to.
